Biography
Water Bear is an alternative rock band based in Hamilton, Ontario. Formed by Songwriters Tom Dusome & Alex T. (Vocals & Guitars) and backed by Craig MacDonald (Drums) and Jim Curtis (Bass). They write meaningful, relatable, and familiar music that stays unique by having irregular song structures, varying time signatures, accidentals, and truly memorable hooks.
Water Bear is currently recording music from our separate homes and releasing it on Bandcamp. Home Recordings was first released July 12th, 2020 with the song “Smile and Nod”. The latest release “Cicadas” was released on October 25th, 2020. Accompanying music videos have been made for “Smile and Nod” and “You May Not”.
The band strives to give everything they can to their fans and community. They make homespun lyric books, available at shows, so everyone has a chance to sing along. Water Bear creates silly and fun video journal entries to engage with the fans and friends of the band.
Water Bear is frequently seen playing live at local venues such as the Artword Artbar, Shady Grove Café, or the Corktown Pub.
Their debut EP, The St. Clair Sessions: Press Play, was released January 13th 2019. In March 2019, they released a version of their song “Keep Coming Back,” which was produced by and features Mike Trebilcock (of The Killjoys) on bass and backing vocals.
